I used a peacock feather as inspiration on one of my 2002 Journal quilts, QuiltPage 7 (May), on this page: http://www.mariaelkins.com/JournalQuiltPages.asp. I used a double needle to quilt the feather tendrils. As I reached about the halfway point, I began to turn the quilt so that the lines got closer together until they became one line.
That's really special Maria, I remember the other feather journals, but I had forgotten about that one. It isn't always easy to work out how to get the tendrils, but the twin needle was just the right effect.
Plenty of inspiration in peacock feathers. Have you ever made anything inspired by them?
