Thankful Thursday on Friday

What fun!

I found a choir when I was making salad the other day!

I wonder what they are singing?

For more Of what people like this week, the link is on LeeAnna’s blog.

I started this post, but wasn’t able to get back to it.
Today is a special day. A Thankful day. We are recently back from a service to remember God’ Love through Jesus on the cross. Looking forward to Sunday to remember He is alive.
As I read somewhere: It isn’t about the bunny but it is about the Lamb.
Not sure what you have for a belief, but this is very important to me a a big part of my life.

I like these reminders of new life all around.

And the answer ...

Hurrah! My transportation device has arrived!!!
 downstairs
upstairs

Beam me up!
Hope you can see the video!

My studio, though, has been turned inside out. The Thoughtful Man had to take things out of cupboards to move them! 😱 My machine is on a wee table in the corner of the dining room. and...I did finish the Stretching Art piece this week. Off in the post today!

The blue boxes in yesterday's post were the biohazard arrangements for removing asbestos. Apparently the boss of the asbestos team (sublet by the lift team) came out for this job with the others as it was high grade worry type of asbestos!!! They only removed what was needed for doing the lift. We have to get a plasterer in now to do plaster the wallboard. As it so turns out, the top recommendation in the Checka Trade list is our new neighbour at no.22! So he is coming to look tomorrow.

I like thankful Thursday

As you know, I like 'finding' things in various shapes. One comment compared it to cloud watching.
So, here is a duck who has gone splat on his face. Why? I don't know. He was under the table where I had my restoring cup of tea before leaving the Knitting and Stitching Show the other week.

I like my cheerful cyclamen in the front garden.

The posh cyclamen got a bit of a beating from the snow the other week, but it has recovered and there are even more flowers. Kind of a challenge to keep on no matter what gets dumped on you?

I like discoveries. These photos of fungi are from around a tree stump behind our back fence. (I won't go into the story of the wonderful tree becoming a stump. It still makes me cross.)

I was coming back from the shops and these caught my eye. Behind the back garden fence.

Then I saw all these.

And then I realised there was a wide variety of fungi there! I don't think I have ever seen a black mushroom.

or translucent ones? not so great a photo. They were rather hidden.

growing up the different root sections of the tree stump.

I have seen images of the brownish flat fungi in the photos above, but there were also green versions.

and little brown ones

steps for fairies?
And those type were also growing in a patch of dead leaves.

Interesting. The leaves are interwoven with the fungi.
It makes it look like there was a small stump in the upper left corner.
But I know there was no small tree growing. I look out my bedroom window at the back garden and the trees beyond the fence most mornings. I like checking out this stump when I go to and from the shops. Anyway! I kind of overdid it on the photos! But I do like making discoveries when I am out and about.

Seeing things

I think some gnomes or fairies live here.

I like Thankful Thursday

A bit late today. Trying to get a photo and form submitted.
note: I hope the photos show up for this post because they don't seem to be loading properly. 😭

I am REALLY liking that I can see to sew on my machine!!!!
I did the stitching round this piece I am sending for the SAQA donation for the Spotlight Auction at their conference. Now to post it.
Ramshackle Bungalow. 6" x 8"
I like that this is the the first thing I have completed since I got new eyes! 👀

I was going to show a lot more, but I will just add this little lion shaped tea stain. The photo situation is not loading easily.
I like discovering random spills or whatever that look like something.

Come back next week for more I hope!

Something on Saturday

Also at the garden centre - (oops another cow!)

A strange Nativity scene.
These animals are all sorts of proportions. Plus, their heads move around.

Not so bad, but when you look into the manger itself, Mary and Joseph are scarecrows. Hmmm?😕
and the camel's movement is stuck, so it looks like he is nodding along to some tune. 'We 3 Kings?'
I made a video with my phone. I hope it shows up here.

If you stay to the end, that is me trying to get my phone to stop recording!

Something on Saturday

just for fun - I promise, I have covered all the cows I own.

These were at the garden centre when we went a few weeks ago!

I didn't buy one, but really if I had extra money, I might have done.

Love it! Love the expression.

Cow 98

I just found this laddie.

I think he is fun.
He was with a totally different collection of creatures on my antique books bookcase.

Something on Saturday

Cow 97
A few silly ones today.
The top two cows are actually oven gloves. I haven't the heart to use them and get them all stained. So they live in a drawer. They only come out if we are involved in doing games for pancake day.😀
The other one I had forgotten about, so I have hung it up near the sink so I can laugh!

Random...
2 hair scrunchies just came to light when I was looking for something else! I had forgotten about them!

And I have been debating on putting this one up. Strictly speaking, it isn't a cow. So, I will put it with these scrunchies.
My Mom made it. I get what she was doing - cow over the moon and cat with a fiddle... Only the cat hasn't got a fiddle.
I am not particularly fond of cats, so this one is also a soft doorstop. 🙀 for one of the doors that is most likely to be caught with the wind. My husband's wardrobe is behind the door. So, if the other doorstop isn't put back, this one is just by the door frame to make sure the door doesn't bang.
Which is why the whiskers are in a great mess!😾

(remember, all the doorstops are mostly for the dog who is afraid of banging doors!)

Something on Saturday

Cow 94

"Cow Girls at Sunflower Branch"
I made piece a few years ago. A phrase in my head that wanted to come out in a bit of whimsy.

Something on Saturday

cow 58

When I started doing the cow photos, I thought it might not last the year. Then when I got to last week's photo, I thought it was the last one. (besides a few not worth mentioning).
But I have been noticing more here and there...
And I still haven't done the mugs!
I can't remember who gave this paint stirrer to me. It hangs off a notice board that is covered with so much stuff that I hardly look at it anymore. But it hangs down past the calendar, so that is why it got noticed.
I do like it though. Just the right amount of humour when it does catch your eye.

So, on we go...

I like Thankful Thursday

I like my DAB radio. It keeps me going through the day.

Fingers do their thing while the music plays. usually set to UCB2. But when Test Match Special is on in the summer, it is usually tuned to the Cricket.

I like looking out the window to see the 'Woodstock' tree.
I posted this photo around this time in 2015. There is a bit more scruff now- the branches look like when Linus used to pat the birds on the head. But I still am amused when I look out the window and see it there.
Oh, yeah, it is a cherry tree in real life.

What happens when...

...the apple pie gets soggy because it had a crumble top and other puddings had been chosen during the holiday.
and 2 men come up with an idea to re-crisp the top! Yikes.

It didn't really work. The pie was good anyway.

More glimpses of Switzerland

A few more photos to keep you occupied because I am in the midst of about 5 too many things this week!

A few things on the streets:

I loved the connection with armoured tanks and the rhino - (Panzer)

interesting wording

Sea creatures

 lion on a pillar

flower clock
 I loved this door!

and under the train station

An underground waterfall with changing lights.

Finally for today... the planting under a tree was alpine strawberries! Why not?

Though people had dogs on leads everywhere. Even the posh shopping street...not designer ones either, regular home loving pets. Even taking them in shops. SO, I didn't pick the strawberries.

Something on Saturday

How do you sort photos...one at a time. Here are 3 from Our holiday in Switzerland.

Interesting card on the bed...
No, we never had them change it!

First dinner...we were given a discount card for dinner. So, after checking out the menu prices, decided to go for it. But then were guided to a different part for the discount...
This x 2, my dear friends, plus bread rolls and a soft drink came to over 60CHF! With the discount! Without, it would have been well over 100CHF.

Yes, the asparagus with cheese was lovely, but not that lovely! With normal sliced ham? even if it did have a pansy on it.
So, I ate the pansy.
I am normally not a 'foodie' but, for that price, I took a photo.

So, out with the plans to have our posh dinner in St. Gallen. We should have asked for the leftover sliced ham for a packed lunch.

It was quite a shock to discover the cost of things there. But, they were really proud of their fresh water from the Zürichsee (Lake Zürich). So proud, that they had fountains all over the city. Each one different.
The tourist website says: Zürich has the most fountains of any city in the world with approx. 1,200 drinking water fountains.

This one was 'Different'. But free.
