Hi Judith, They do look rather like shot silk in the photo. Some of them are more chartreuse on one side and more teal on the other.
The long ‘straw’ beads have almost a chalky feel they are pretty fragile, too. I am glad I chose to use them this way because the metal from the pin will keep them from breaking. They wouldn’t have worked too well on an item that needed flexibility or that might knock against things like a skirt hem. Thanks for commenting. Sandy
