Treasure 51
My friend Pat is a wonderful knitter. Some years ago, she was making everyone a ‘jelly baby’. This is mine.
Isn’t he cute?

Amaryllis watch
These are the last of the Amaryllis flowers for this winter. Double Red Dragon. We had a second stalk of the Double Dancing Queen which finished last week and this the the second of the stalks for the red ones. The other doubles all had 3 flowers, but this had 4. Dancing Queen was slightly frilly and a few were triple flowers. Red Dragon was fairly straight and also had a few triple flowers.
Like it really matters! But I like them

Pancake Day
Yesterday we met at our friend’s house to have a pancake night. One day early because other friends were going away today. 🧇
Mr Thoughtful was one of the ones who made pancakes. And some gluten free pancakes for me. We love getting together with these dear people.
But I forgot to take photos when we were there. 🤭

Treasure 50
A new Treasure. It is just right.
Oh, and the kettle is new. NOT a treasure! The old one died on Sunday morning...that afternoon we had a knock on the door, delivery of a new one. Looks swish, but apparently it was cheap and Sunday delivery.

A special lunch
We don’t usually go out for Valentine’s Day on the day, because it is too busy. So, this year we went to lunch on Monday at the cafe at Holme Grange.
Cute little milk can.
We had one of the best omelettes I have ever had. Cheese and Mushrooms.
I would definitely recommend the cafe! I have no idea about the chocolate. We were looking for lunch and the garden centre was quite busy and food would have been a 45min delay!

Sister Artists new exhibition
Update on the Sister Artists project.
“Exciting news - the dates for the exhibit at the New England Quilt Museum have been set. 1 - 4 April 2020.
Thursday, April 2, 12:30 - Brown Bag Lunch - The museum has invited us to give a Brown Bag Lunch talk. This takes place in the Genre Gallery and can have anywhere from 5 - 20 attendees.
Saturday, April 4 - Hollis Chatelain will be speaking about her Stories of West Africa exhibit. Hollis came to the event in DC and was very moved by all your work. She will be announcing the quilts she has selected for recognition. We will also be recognizing the three quilts which were selected for Viewer’s Choice in DC (there was a 3 way tie!). “

This isn’t a magical basket of flowers. Just pretend ones.
But they are special because my son gave it to me on one Mother’s Day.

Plaid dress finish!
This week has been a bit of upheaval because we had some windows replaced.
However, I did finish a project last week.
At the start of January, while I was still recovering from being poorly, I decided to start a winter dress from this pink plaid. However, my brain wasn’t quite up to snuff. I must have had some idea of some interesting thing going on with a front opening, because I cut the back on the fold. And not remembering what the idea was, the front ended up with a seam.
😩 as hard as I tried, the lines would not match up on the front seam! So, what to do?
I wanted the fabric to be the focus, so I didn’t want lace or trim or even some sort of embroidery down the front. Then I remembered that the selvedge edge had a bit of fringe.
And so, I cobbled the two edges together and voila!
Still about the fabric, yet a slight textural interest if it is noticed. So a somewhat pinafore look winter dress.😁
And how interesting? It seems too big! But I hadn’t prewashed the fabric, so I will see what happens before I take it in. At least there is plenty of room for some layers underneath.
I want to make a plain dark teal dress like it, but I am dithering now because I am not sure I like the fit. Any thoughts?
