Bead on 2018 finish

Although I spent sometime where I just couldn't work on this because of my back, and as well, haven't been seeing properly, I was keeping track. I finally caught up and completed the 2018 daily bead project before the New Year. (Then couldn't see to sort the photos to put up here because of the second cataract. 😵)

So, am doing much better now. It isn't a Sunday, but I want to get this posted before it gets any later in January.

Week 52
So, here is a detail of the last week of the year.

And here is a photo of the whole bead project for 2018.

As you see, it doesn't cover 1/4 of the fabric. (It is folded in half to hang up for the photo.)
So, now I am considering what is next for it.

In the meantime, I have been working on the bead project for 2019. Will post these first several days on Sunday. I hope to get back into the routine of posting about the week's work. (£1 glasses are helping some while I wait for the ok for seeing about proper glasses.)

Bead on 28 October-3 November

Week 44 - 2018

Bead on fabric

This week involved an end of month and a turning to the next line.

zoom out a bit to see that area

and then further...this is the whole work so far. 2 months to go.

As I have said before, I thought more of the cloth would be covered. But, even if I don't carry on next year, it is big enough to be a panel in something.

Bead on 21-27 October

week 43 - 2018

bead on fabric

It is becoming very clear that one year doesn't take up as much space as somehow I thought it would!
If I carry on with this, I will have to change some of the bead sets because I only have enough of some components to do one year's worth.
I want to do something with stitch, so maybe the carrying on will introduce stitch and beads combined. I always meant to come back through and add some stitching.
So, some thoughts running around in my mind about this project. Still plenty of time to decide.

Not being careful about lighting, just getting a photo of the progress. Should be turning the corner next week.

Still thinking about the daily stitch idea.

with the extra colours I bought from Institches at FOQ.

Perhaps going back to this to prime the pump?

Some possible ideas in this collection. There are around 18, but I have some already to go for making more. Can't remember if I was planning on doing 26 or 52. But it doesn't matter. I can break out of the rules and just do more of what I like! 😁

Bead on 4-11 and 12-18 August

week 32 and 33 - 2018

I've caught up from being away, so this photo is from this last week and the week before.
Just the bead on fabric.

Progress on my daily bead project: this photo gives you an idea of how things are so far for the year.

Just a few thoughts about it.
I wanted something that didn’t take so much time (after the previous 5 years). But this project is so quick, I don’t get as much enjoyment. I do want to fill this length of cloth with the patterning that comes from marking each day of the week differently. So, already thinking 🤔 about what to change for next year. Inspired by Jean Williamson's Dates in a Life project.

No trims for a bit til after my eye recovers from Cataract Surgery on the 21st August. I do spend too much time on that! and looking very close.

finished the pink lacy row along this trim. I like the 'frilly-ness'.

I am contemplating another row using small beads to make it even more frilly.
You can just see the pattern on the bit of thread left on the needle.

Bead on 22-28 July

Sorry for the long silence.  Struggling a bit with spending much time on the computer because my right eye, which was getting rather blurry, is in need of a cataract surgery. 🙈 The date is the 21st of August.
I am looking forward to having 2 eyes to see out of! 😜

So, those and a birthday and a very busy weekend doing things with friends.

week 30  2018
I didn't do much on the trim, so that will wait, but I still did the daily beads.
bead on fabric

I have been doing future project thinking, which is easier than wearing out the one eye which does work. When I do small things or try to sew on the machine, I have to close the blurry eye. But that makes perspective off and you should see me thread a needle!

Anyway, I want to do something wonderful with these threads I got from InStitches in the Spring.
I have been sorting cupboards and fabrics (instead of sewing), with an eye to what might work for the project. This loose weave navy with stripe is what caught my eye. It will set off the threads nicely, and the stripes will give me a guide to work with.
Not fully decided on a specific embroidery stitch or several different ones. But this will probably become some daily project - or weekly. I really like the work Penny Berens and Judy Martin do. I would have loved to go to their recent joint exhibition!

trim
I did take out the next picot edge because each set was too close to the next one.
So, I used more of the same beads, which causes the set to stand away slightly. 5 beads in each set rather than 3. It alternates pink with the metallic grey and pink with a dark red (like a transparent red with a glaze that looks metallic in some positions. To be honest, they look nearly the same when on the trim, so it is quite easy to realise you carried on with one colour instead of alternating.

This is how much I have done now; a little over 12 in/30cm.
Going for the lacy look. I am not sure if I have enough of the pink to do both sides, but I think it would be a bit too hard to control if it were on both sides.

Starting a combo of these beads along the side. But I may back up and make it not so tight. However, it has been too hot to sit and fuss with it!
