I like Thankful Thursday

I like these button coasters made of silicone! A late present from family. I like them so much I haven't used them yet! Seems a pity to split them up around the house. Maybe brighten up the table? I have some others I usually use there.
Something specific will come around and they will be just right.

I like the lights in my dining room.

About the only 'modern' thing we have for decoration.

And I especially like them now that Mr. Thoughtful washed years of dust off them a couple weeks ago. Not that he wouldn't have earlier, but they do take a bit of delicate handling when you take them down.
So, you put off doing them. And you don't realise how bad they had become. It was about impossible to get them clean handwashing, so we chanced the dishwasher, which worked brilliantly. (Pun not intended!)
Yes, I suppose I could have tried to do it, but I really do not trust my legs anymore...and I still wouldn't have been tall enough with a step stool to reach and hand onto the little screws and things.

  1. gorgeous light. And I like the lines created when it's on. That's the magic of lights, I always note them when we walk by homes with interesting night lighting, how certain shapes throw the light. We had a chandalier of crystals, and it was the very devil of a time trying to clean that thing. Someone said to use some spray cleaner that dripped off, and it loosened all the joinings so the crystals fell off! After that I just hand cleaned once every blue moon whether it needed it or not.
Those big buttons are so kitchy! Love them!!!

  2. Hi Sandy,
Not only do I love your lights in the dining room, but I love the textured ceilings. They don't do that very often here - just spray with sand so they are rough but not the popcorn type. Ugg, who washes their lights that often?! Well, I imagine there are SOME people who do. Not me - when I think of it, and then I have to think about it for a bit. HAHA! In fact, I was thinking about taking down the island globes just the other day. That thought passed though when I realized I had to climb up on the island to reach them. Maybe this summer or spring when my feet are all better. ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Your ceiling light is so cool! And I like the way the circles are echoed in the ceiling texture. I moved around some light fixtures recently and cleaned them in the process- you're right it made such a huge(!) difference.

  4. I like your colorful coasters and the neat, modern lights! The same thing happens at our house - if you don't see that it's dirty, it doesn't get cleaned, until it gets really bad! And then, oh dear! :)

  5. Such a simple thing as clean stuff. And it's wonderful, isn't it! Those coasters are fun, too.

  6. Hi Thanks every one!
I had forgotten that artex ceilings are pretty much a British thing. I have no idea why it is preferred. They seem to be easier for spiders to cling to for making webs. No, I am not showing the corners!!

Most of our other ceilings are done with texture paint (I think). Kind of a similar texture to bricks or pavement.

LeeAnna - Oh no for the whole chandelier to come apart from the solution! Yikes. No, I don't think I would fancy washing that often either.

  8. I don't do anything up high anymore, I lose my bearing too easily these days. I have those coasters too and I'm grateful that I'm not the only one who can't bear to just use them as a coaster! Have a great week!
