This is a place mat. I have never taken the plastic off. I just tied twine around at the line between the painting and the border and tied it up at the back to make a way to hang it.
So, consider it a little darker because the light is reflecting off the plastic. You can't tell the plastic is there in real life...or is more like the glass in a frame.
